The Penny Farthing At Night!
A warm cosy atmosphere, twinkling candlelight, delicious, home cooked food…The Penny Farthing has long been established as a good food restaurant, but in recent years has only been open in the daytime, other than for theme nights and private events; we are excited to announce that, from September onwards, Penny will be opening as an a la carte restaurant every Friday and Saturday night! We will be open from 6pm to 9.30pm, and are taking bookings from now, including for large tables, and including the run up to Christmas (is it too soon to mention Christmas?)
Our evening menu will include fillet steaks, delicious cauliflower steaks and whole grilled fresh fish supplied by the exceptionally well reputed Ashton Fishmongers. There will be a huge emphasis on simple dishes and on fresh local ingredients.
Our vision is for a restaurant that offers reasonably priced, healthy food to be enjoyed with friends and family.
We are so delighted that our talented chef Peter will be heading up our evening team. We are honoured to have Peter on board, who brings with him a wealth of experience, having trained at Michelin star Thackeray’s, cooked for the Opera at Glyndebourne, toured as a chef with Cirque de Soleil, cooked for the athletes and broadcasters at both the London and Sochi Olympics, and for artists and their crews at Glastonbury and Reading Festivals; name anyone, and the chances are that Peter has cooked them dinner!
Our Front of House team will be on hand with some fabulous wines supplied by Fine Wine Direct of Cardiff, and will also be delighted to mix you a hand- crafted cocktail, for example,
French 75, Whiskey Sour or Cosmopolitan, and we have a few more up our sleeve as well.
Customers who have previously attended our really successful Candlelit Carol evenings needn’t worry; these will be held again this year on several Thursday evenings in December. We will also be available for private hire on all other nights of the week, but we will of course be delighted to accommodate group bookings on Fridays and Saturdays,
